2016 Design Excellence Award Winners Announced

The American Institute of Architects, Central Oklahoma Chapter honored eleven firms earlier this month during their 2016 AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards Program. AIA Central Oklahoma received over 50 entries Design Award entries into this year’s competition.  Entrants were architects from the AIA Central Oklahoma Chapter, which Central and Western Oklahoma.  The entered projects could be located anywhere in the world.  Entrants were able to submit in six categories: Commercial Architecture, Residential Architecture, Interiors, Master Planning, Historic Preservation / Adaptive Reuse and Sustainable Design. “The AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards program celebrates the best in architecture and urban design.  We are excited to showcase this exceptional architecture and design from our local Oklahoma architects,” said Melissa Hunt, Executive Director for AIA’s Central Oklahoma Chapter. The jury for the 2016 Design Awards met in Denver, Colorado to select this year’s winners.  The jury was made up of three award winning, Denver architects: Cheri Gerou, FAIA of the Colorado State Architect’s Office; Daniel Craig, AIA of Shears Adkins Rockmore; and Jenna Michieli, AIA of Anderson Mason Dale Architects. The Awards Banquet was held on Friday, November 4th at the Skirvin Hotel and Cheri Gerou, FAIA, the jury chair, was on-hand to assist Lacey Lett, of NewsChannel 4 and the evening’s emcee, in presenting the winners of the 2016 AIA Central Oklahoma Design Awards competition.  The following firms and projects were honored for their design. There were more than 4500 votes received.
