AIA Central Oklahoma could not do all its events and programs without the outstanding support and volunteerism we receive for our AIA, Associate AIA and Allied members.  Below is a list of our current committees, please let us know if you would like to get involved and join a committee in 2016.  Please email your interest to aiacoc@cox.net .

 

AIACOC LUNCHEON COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for planning the 2016 AIA Luncheon Programs.  This includes securing speakers and sponsors for the luncheons.

ASSOCIATES COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for assisting the AIA Central Oklahoma Associate Director in planning ARE Seminars and other events targeted at our Associate AIA (intern architect) members.

SPORTING CLAYS TOURNAMENT

This committee is responsible for planning and carrying out the annual sporting clays tournament which takes place each spring.  The 2017 event will take place in March. Duties include, selecting the range, securing sponsors, organizing and promoting the event.

ARCHITECTURE TOUR COMMITTEE

The Annual AIA Architecture Tour is the chapter’s largest public outreach event.  It showcases 8 locations (6 residential, 2 commercial) projects designed by an architect.  The AIA Architecture Tour will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from noon – 5:00 p.m. this year.  The committee is responsible for encouraging nominations, selecting the tour locations, fundraising, promotion, organization of the event, and staffing the locations on the day of the tour.

 AIACOC HONOR AWARDS

The AIA Central Oklahoma Honor Awards honors individuals and firms for their contributions to the profession and the built environment.  This committee will encourage nominations, select the honorees, plan the awards luncheon, fundraise etc.

KIDesign 2017

KIDesign is an introduction to architecture and design in the world around us.  Children 1st – 6th grade will participate in various activities as they learn, create and design their own projects with guidance from the local architectural community.  The committee is responsible for putting together the class curriculum, securing sponsorships as every child attends free and helping get the word out to local schools and nonprofits about the event.  The committee members will also teach a classes on the day of the event.

AIA ANNUAL GOLF SCRAMBLE

This event is the chapter’s largest fundraiser and helps fund our programs and events throughout the year.  The committee is responsible for securing sponsors and players for the tournament.

2017 KICKIN’ IT KICKBALL TOURNAMENT

Each year AIA Central Oklahoma hosts a kickball tournament where our architectural firms compete against one another for bragging rights and a trophy.   The KICKIN’ IT Committee is responsible for organizing the event, recruiting teams, fundraising, as well as, setting up and tearing down the day of the event.

MARKETING & GRAPHICS COMMITTEE

The purpose of the AIA Central Oklahoma Marketing & Graphics Committee is to help promote awareness of The American Institute of Architects, Central Oklahoma Chapter, the importance of our built environment and the role architects play in our community.  In addition, the committee will assist AIACOC with graphic design and ensure the AIA brand is met on all materials produced by the AIA Central Oklahoma Chapter.  Committee Terms are 2 years.

This will be the second year for the AIA Central Oklahoma hosts a beach volleyball tournament where our architectural firms compete against one another for bragging rights and a trophy.   The Beach Volleyball Committee is responsible for organizing the event, recruiting teams, fundraising, as well as, setting up and tearing down the day of the event.

AIA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE

This is a new for the AIA Central Oklahoma in 2017.  We will host a basketball tournament where our architectural firms compete against one another for bragging rights and a trophy.   The Basketball Committee is responsible for organizing the event, recruiting teams, fundraising, as well as, setting up and tearing down the day of the event.

AIA OKLAHOMA ARCHITECTS BLITZ THE CAPITOL

Each Spring AIA Oklahoma hosts a day at the Capitol to help build relationships with Oklahoma Legislators. This year’s committee will be looking at new ideas to encourage more participation in 2017. This is a statewide committee and we encourage AIA (licensed architect) and Associate AIA (intern architect) members from AIA Central Oklahoma and AIA Eastern Oklahoma to join the committee.

AIA OKLAHOMA 2017 FALL CONVENTION COMMITTEE

This committee will be responsible for planning the 2017 AIA Oklahoma Fall Convention.  It will be a working committee where members of the committee will be asked to plan sessions, sell booths and sponsorships, plan social events, promote the convention and more.  This is a statewide event and we encourage AIA, Associate AIA and Allied members from both chapters to serve on this committee.

AIA OKLAHOMA GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

This committee is a statewide committee that meets monthly in Stroud, Oklahoma to help guide AIA Oklahoma’s legislative agenda.  This committee makes recommendations to the AIA Oklahoma Board of Directors.  This committee is open to AIA (licensed architect) and Associate AIA (intern architect) members from both AIA Central Oklahoma and AIA Eastern Oklahoma.  Committee members are expected to attend all Government Affairs meetings and Architect’s Blitz the Capitol.
