Architecture firms from around the five-state Midwest Region were recognized at the American Institute of Architects’ Annual Awards Celebration held Thursday, September 25th in Des Moines.
AIA Members from across the five-state region attended the Awards Celebration to honor the recipients in four categories of Excellence: Small Projects, Interiors, Preservation / Adaptive Reuse, and Architecture. The Awards celebrate outstanding work in the Central States region of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. The highest quality, informed by The AIA Framework for Design Excellence, moves the profession toward a zero-carbon, healthy, just, and equitable built environment.
Oklahoma architects were recognized:

Excellence in Architecture, Merit: Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center and goes to Rand Elliott Architects. The jury commented: “The façade changes throughout the day, reflecting the light and context. A beautiful contrast to the skyline and a varied experience looking out from the building.”

Excellence in Interiors, Honorable Mention: Treyarch by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Ltd. The jury commented: “The design effectively conveys the essence of video game culture and conveys the brand well. This is consistent throughout the project.”
